Privacy notice

How we collect, use and protect your personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Who we are

This website is run by M-RAM Solutions cc, trading as Shift8 Computer Networking cc ("Shift8", "we", "us"). We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice.

2. What we collect

When you use the contact form, we collect the details you choose to give us:

  • your name and email address
  • your phone number, if you add it
  • who needs help (for example your household, or the size of your business)
  • your message

To protect the form from spam, our website stores a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your internet (IP) address, with the times you sent the form, so it can limit repeat submissions. It only counts submissions from the last hour. Like all websites, our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs.

This website does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. It only stores a small note in your own browser to remember that you unlocked the home page, and that note is cleared when you close the tab.

3. Why we use it

We use your details only to reply to your enquiry, arrange your free consultation and, if you ask us to, provide a quote or our services. We process it because you asked us to contact you, and because it is needed to take the steps you requested before any agreement with us.

We will not send you marketing messages unless you ask for them, and we never sell your personal information.

4. Who we share it with

Your enquiry is delivered to our support mailbox. We only share your information with the service providers we need to run this website and our email, such as our website host and email provider, who must keep it confidential and secure. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

This website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers when a page opens. Google receives your IP address as part of that connection.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry only for as long as we need it to deal with your request and to keep reasonable business records, and then we delete it.

6. How we protect it

This website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to enquiries is limited to our team. We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to keep your information safe from loss, misuse or unauthorised access.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and ask for a copy of it
  • ask us to correct or delete information about you
  • object to us processing your information
  • withdraw your consent where we rely on it
